Bringing Back Ultimate Function with Teeth-in-a-Day
- Posted on: Aug 30 2016
Dentistry tends to focus on the prevention of extensive dental injury through routine care. Today more than ever, we have the information and the techniques to help our patients enjoy what nature has given them in the way of their teeth. As much as we would like to say that tooth loss or the need for extraction can be completely avoided, we know that is not the case. That being said, there is little need to wring your hands with worry if tooth loss or extraction is a prospect you are facing. Your Beverly Hills Dentist Dr. David Frey can restore ultimate function with dental implants.
How Dental Implants Work
The progressive development of new dental technologies is one of the most exciting aspects of our field. Dental implant treatment has been in the works for more than half a century. In the past decade alone, we have seen the proven success of this treatment garner praise from dentists and their patients, whose primary concern is recreating the natural look and feel of the tooth or teeth that are no longer present.
Historically, to replace a tooth with dental implants would require multiple steps. If the tooth needed to be extracted, this would be performed in one visit. Then, in a subsequent visit, the implant post (root replacement) would be inserted. This post would be covered completely by gum tissue and left to heal for several months. Only after the implant had fully integrated into the jawbone would the restoration be affixed to it. Today, we have an expedited method for achieving the same outstanding results.
As dental implant treatment has evolved, it has been discovered that a temporary restoration can be placed onto the implant on the same day that the post is inserted. Furthermore, it is also possible to insert the implant into the socket immediately after tooth extraction. This method of care minimizes the number of visits while maximizing patient comfort.
Dr. Frey has been serving patients from Beverly Hills and Los Angeles with personal cosmetic dental care for over 20 years. Our practice places priority on service, comfort, and long-lasting results. To learn more about dental implants, call 310-276-4537.
